Mother on board
Who is the person connecting all dots in our households? Of course, our mothers. They are always concerned if everything is working well, and if everything is in place. Motherboard has the same role inside our PC. It is the most important circuit board with all the main chips and controllers connected to it. There you will find all these slots like PCI slots, slots for RAM, Central Processing Unit, ROM, USB ports etc. Motherboard is also communicating with hardware devices like mouse, keyboard, DVD and others via its own controllers.
Importance of the Motherboard.
One of the major roles of Motherboard is to help all the information is distributed in the right places. In order to do that, Motherboard possesses two important buses: Input/Output bus and the system bus. These two , together transfer all the necessary information within PC environment.
History of Motherboards
You can imagine how motherboards have changed since the first one was presented. At the beginning they had some card slots and a processor. The prototype of the first motherboard was built in 1981 by the IBM corporation. Motherboards today are a completely different story. They have so many advanced features and are increasingly developing with each new generation. Main components of today’s motherboards are: CPU, BIOS, ChipSet, RTC (Real Time Clock). When we talk about other parts we have to mention connectors or controllers such as: Power, Mouse, Keyboard, Display, USB, PCI, AGP and others.
Motherboard Producers
One of the top Motherboard producers today are Intel, Asus, Gigabyte, EVGA, MSI and others. We wish to thank them for all the efforts and the resources they invested in this industry. Just keep on surprising us guys !
